Seeing the blessings in the middle of the storm 🩵
Today I really noticed some of the most beautiful parts of motherhood are found right in the middle of the hardest days.
Today, my almost four-year-old has been so sick.
There have been moments of worry, vomit, fevers and the exhaustion that comes with caring for a little one who isn’t feeling herself.
But in the middle of all of this, I’ve been reminded of just how amazing it is to be her mum.
Even after vomiting, she still wanted to wear her prettiest dress and asked if she could go to the park. And when her temperature finally started to come down and she started feeling a bit better, she wanted to dance around like a ballerina princess 🩰👑
When the sun started to go down, I could see she was definitely starting to get tired and needing rest. She was lying on the couch, so I gently told her that if she was tired, it was okay to go to bed because her bed would be much more comfortable.
But her response was:
“No, I want to sleep on the couch because my bed is scrunchy munchy!” 😆🩵
And those are the moments I want to hold onto tightly.
The little phrases, the big personalities, the funny things they say, the way their little spirits shine through even when they aren’t feeling their best.
Motherhood isn’t always easy. There are days filled with worry, exhaustion, pain and moments when we feel stretched beyond what we have to give. But even on those days, there can be something really beautiful tucked in between what we think is just ordinary.
I’m learning that seeing the blessings in the middle of the storm doesn’t mean pretending the storm isn’t there. It means we can allow ourselves to notice the little gifts God has placed right in the middle of it.
A silly sentence. A little dance. A favourite dress. Even a small moment of laughter on a difficult day.
These are the moments that make my heart pause and remind me that, even when life feels hard, there is still so much beauty to be found.
And perhaps one day, I’ll look back and realise that some of the moments I was simply trying to get through were also the moments I was being given memories I will always treasure forever 🩵
